Chapter 4: Coffee Shop Incident

Since they were running straight ahead without detours and on flat grounds, the duo managed to reach their location in just half a day's time. But there was a problem, a huge wall was built around the human settlement so they couldn't see what was happening inside. Not just that, the walls also had array formations that could detect all forms of concealment and attack the target with everything they had.

The only way to enter this place was through the main entrance which the duo didn't know of its location so without a choice, they had to run around the wall till they found the entrance. @@@@

Haoyu felt his fatigue disappear and his depleted energy being replenished very quickly and in just a few seconds, he was back to peak condition and without wasting time, he started running.

Another thirty minutes passed but fortunately, it seems they had chosen the correct direction because they actually found the entrance. Two guards in full armour were standing on the sides of the massive gates. There was a long line of people waiting to enter the place. Jace and Haoyu caught the attention of everyone because of their outfits.

Because Jace's clothes were burnt and torn, Haoyu had given him robes to wear and both of them were wearing white robes, looking like cultivator cosplayers. Everyone on the queue gave them weird looks because of their attire and the duo was extremely embarrassed.

On the queue, many people were wearing casual clothes like t-shirts, swag pants, snickers and some were wearing formal wear like suits and the like. Looking at everyone looking at them, Jace felt like he was back on Earth because that's what Earthlings typically wear on a daily basis.

The duo joined the line even though everyone kept looking at them like zoo animals, some even laughed at how ridiculous they look. The only one's who couldn't laugh were ladies who kept stealing glances of Haoyu because he was very handsome.

Others kept looking at Jace because they'd never seen someone with chocolate brown skin, afro hair and full lips. While they were looking at him, Jace was also looking at them and was surprised to see that western earth looking people also existed in this world, he thought he'd only find Chinese looking people.

They waited for some time until it was their turn to enter the place, Haoyu took out a token with his surname written on it. The guards looked at the token, then they looked at each other. They seem to be communicating with their eyes and after a quick chat, they allowed the duo inside.

On the other side of the metallic gates was a completely different world, hawkers, scouts, salesmen and women filled the paved streets of this place. This place looked no different from a modern city not just because of the people but also the architect and design of buildings.

“Is this enough or not?” he asked calmly.

The manager didn't throw a fuss when he saw the two gold ingots but instead took out a small gadget. It was the tool used to test if jewellery was fake or not. The manager had come across many customers who had pulled the same stunt so he was quite experienced in this kind of situation.

Seeing that the gold ingots were actually real gold, the manager smiled and took away the two gold ingots.

“Would you like your change in cash or card? I'd also like to remind you that the shop will take 10% of what your gold ingots are worth.” said the manager.

“We'll take the card, thank you very much.” answered Jace. The manager then took out a bank card and gave it to him, he also told him the pin of the card. Jace and Haoyu were about to leave when an explosion occurred outside the coffee shop, the shockwaves approached the coffee shop, broke the glasses but before the people could be injured, an ice wall appeared from thin air and protected everyone.

Jace and Haoyu then left the shop like it wasn't dangerous outside and quickly disappeared into the crowded streets.

“Oh my fucking god! What just happened?!”

“Where does the ice wall come from?!”

“Forget that, who were those two guys with weird clothes?”

“Guys, check this video out, my phone was still recording when the explosion occurred so it captured everything.” said one of the customers and everyone gathered around him. They then watched the video from start to finish and saw how Haoyu waved his hand at an extremely fast speed and an ice wall suddenly appeared.

“Holy Shit! These guys have superpowers!”

“Stupid! Look at their attire, these guys are clearly the rumoured cultivators that everyone keeps making theories about. I didn't expect to see the real deal today.”
