Chapter 44: Fireworks Fade, But Bonds Remain

Chapter 44: Fireworks Fade, But Bonds Remain

When Bai Luo was researching information about the Visions, he also delved into other related topics. @@@@

For example, he explored whether there was a correlation between the element of a Vision and the personality or environment of its bearer.

His findings suggested that there was some connection.

For instance, those who wield Pyro Visions are often the most passionate and lively, regardless of their circumstances.

Well... with one notable exception that doesn't need to be named.

Yoimiya, as one of the emblematic Pyro characters, exemplifies this trait.

Hanamizaka owes much of its vibrant atmosphere to both Yoimiya and Arataki Itto, though the latter often causes more chaos than anything else.

"Did you come to watch the oni too?" Yoimiya, seemingly carefree, had actually been observing Bai Luo's expressions closely.

When she mentioned Arataki Itto, she noticed a subtle yet unmistakable change in his expression—a nuance that hinted at something less than positive.

"Yeah, it's been years since I last saw an oni."

"Actually, oni aren't as bad as people think. Even though everyone in Hanamizaka grumbles about him, they all like him deep down; otherwise, they wouldn't let him hang around here for so long," Yoimiya explained enthusiastically.

Just as she said, Bai Luo had witnessed Inazuma's xenophobia firsthand.

The locals were wary not just of non-humans but even took a long time to accept the Fatui.

Yet despite this tendency, they allowed an oni to roam freely in the streets, a testament to their true feelings.

"By the way... what kind of fireworks do you want? Did you bring one of our fireworks tags?"

Yoimiya had been listening intently to everything Bai Luo said, so she remembered that he had mentioned visiting multiple times before.

However, she couldn't recall seeing him before, perhaps because he was a customer of her father's. Long-standing customers typically had fireworks tags.

"Tags?"

Bai Luo was momentarily confused, but then he remembered receiving a tag after completing a main quest in the game.

However, the game item, of course, couldn't be brought into reality.

"Yes, it's a tradition in the Naganohara family. People often say that the fleeting nature of fireworks contrasts with the eternity of the Shogun, but the beauty and emotions that fireworks convey—and the memories they leave in people’s hearts—are a kind of eternity too. Maybe that’s why the Shogun hasn’t given us any trouble."

"No charge. If you feel bad about it, just write down how you feel after watching the fireworks. It might give me some good ideas for improving them."

Yoimiya waved off his concern.

This wasn't the first time she had done something like this.

In the past, her father might have grumbled, but now that she ran the Naganohara Fireworks, the decision was hers, and her father didn’t interfere much anymore.

"Thank you."

Bai Luo was momentarily surprised but not entirely shocked.

Yoimiya did seem like the kind of person who would do something like this.

Afterward, they chatted about the happenings in Hanamizaka, and Bai Luo took the opportunity to inquire about the green-haired girl who resembled Yoimiya.

It wasn’t until Yoimiya’s father called her to help that Bai Luo left with the box of fireworks.

After walking a few steps, his stomach began to growl, reminding him that he had originally gone out for lunch.

By now, it was afternoon, and the street food stalls were mostly deserted.

Bai Luo found a small stall in Hanamizaka and ordered some simple food.

Although Hanamizaka wasn’t as luxurious as the city center, it had a charming, down-to-earth vibe.

After eating his fill, Bai Luo returned to his small courtyard with the fireworks.

But just as he reached the entrance, he saw one of his subordinates pacing anxiously.

"What's going on? Did the Shogun finally decide to meet with me?" Bai Luo asked, thinking perhaps the long-silent Raiden Shogun was ready to see him.

"My Lord, you're finally back. There's a letter from Her Majesty the Tsaritsa!"
