Chapter 780 - Broken's Arrow Strikes

Chapter 780 - Broken's Arrow Strikes

The wyvern did not leave immediately; instead, it kept circling the area near where Broken was. It was almost as if the creature knew there was an intruder nearby. Or was that just his assumption?

Still, he couldn't shake the thought—could this wyvern have some kind of connection to the Dragonkin? In fact, Dragonkin were considered inferior when compared to true dragons. But for some reason, the similarities and the close ties between these three creatures intrigued Broken.

But then, what exactly was the relationship between dragons and Dragonkin?

According to Yunatea's history, Dragonkin were merely a subset of the beastkin race, which was widespread across the land. Beastkin, however, was not part of the seven major races of Yunatea. Even so, everyone knew that their numbers should technically rank second, right after humans.

At least, within Yunatea.

If one were to consider the bigger picture, the most numerous race would still be demons. However, most demons reside in Hell rather than in Yunatea.

And wyverns? They were classified as monsters—or, more precisely, creatures lacking intelligence.

The charging time for the skill was complete. Broken released the bowstring, and the scythe shot forward. A powerful gust of wind surged alongside an explosion of shadow energy. At the same time, an ethereal figure of the Grim Reaper behind him, shrouded in darkness, and lunged forward with terrifying speed.

It was as if Death itself had descended upon the world, ready to claim its next victim.

The spectral form of the Grim Reaper streaked through the air, heading straight for the wyvern. The very moment it made contact, a massive slash tore through the sky, followed by a violent eruption of shadow energy. The impact triggered a series of successive explosions, shaking the entire forest to its core.

Oh. Broken had not expected the blast to be this intense—it would definitely wake up more of the forest's inhabitants.

The wyvern lost its balance, flung backward by the sheer force of the attack.

But damn! Even that wasn't enough to kill it. And this should have been... an absolutely devastating hit.

Still, it was clear that the wyvern was struggling to stay airborne. Its movements had become erratic, and it was flying at a much faster pace—almost as if it had lost control of its momentum. Without hesitation, it veered off, heading deeper into the forest and toward the mountainous region beyond.

Should he give chase?

If he pursued it and landed a few more strikes, he could probably finish it off. But the wyvern was already far ahead, its right wing nearly torn in half.

And then there was the Dragonkin. They had to be connected to her in some way. After all, Ivana's identity as the Dragon Princess had already been confirmed.

Now, it was only a matter of time—whether it took weeks or even months. He would stay as long as it took to find the next clue that could lead him to Ivana's whereabouts.

A deafening roar echoed through the air, followed by the massive form of a creature crashing violently into the ground. It tumbled uncontrollably, slamming into the rocky cliffs above before finally coming to a halt.

It was the dead of night, the dense forest shrouded in darkness.

The creature lifted its head weakly—it was a wyvern, its right wing badly wounded. It opened its mouth repeatedly, letting out desperate cries, either in pain or as a call for help.

The wyvern struggled to flap its injured wing, but the damage had only worsened. The limb twitched, barely responding to its efforts.

"What happened...?"

A deep, heavy voice rang out from the shadows.

Figures emerged from the darkness—three of them. Their armor gleamed under the moonlight, forged from obsidian-like stone, dark and imposing. But the most striking feature about them was the pair of wings extending from their backs.

The trio rushed toward the fallen wyvern, surrounding it with concern, their expressions sharp with curiosity and alarm.

"The wyvern is badly wounded," one of them muttered.

"Yeah, and from the looks of it, this was caused by a single attack—something with massive destructive power."

"What kind of force could deal this much damage?"

"Someone hunting in the forest."

"Damn it... those foolish little creatures always push their limits." The third figure clenched their fists before turning to the others. "Alert the tribe leader. We're going to find whoever did this."
