Chapter 8 Glass Cannon
Chapter 8 Glass Cannon
Pushing open that heavy solid wood door, the view instantly brightened up.
This is a large but empty office with a huge black wooden desk in the center and a floor-to-ceiling window behind it that runs the length of the building.
It was afternoon in Haicheng, and sunlight streamed in. From the window, one could see half of the city laid out before them.
The guard was casually sitting in her office chair with her legs crossed, fiddling with a Parker gold pen in her hand. She was still wearing her black, tight-fitting combat suit, with a mask on her face.
"Chief, the person has arrived. I'll go handle the field report first." The bespectacled office lady secretary bowed slightly and gently closed the door behind her.
"Lilith, sit down." The guard gestured with his chin towards the lounge area opposite the desk. "Don't just stand there."
Chu Li straightened her gothic skirt, looked around, and moved to the long sofa next to the desk.
The sofa was a mess, with folders and a few wrinkled uniforms scattered around. She reached out and cleared a space, where a thin black lace garment slipped to the floor.
"What's this?"
Chu Sheng picked it up curiously; it felt silky smooth to the touch and had a faint milky scent.
Upon closer inspection, she realized that the garment resembled two giant bowls turned upside down, each larger than her head, connected by two thin ribbons.
"Throw it aside." The guard was initially speechless as Chu Sheng held up the personal garment with a bewildered expression, but when she looked down at Chu Sheng's flat chest, she felt relieved.
This kid probably hasn't seen such a cool guy in his life, has he?
Chu Sheng obediently tossed the garment aside and sat down quietly.
"What? Changed your mind? Want to apply to join the patrol team?"
The guard changed his posture, crossing his hands under his chin, a hint of surprise in his eyes.
The A4 sheet of test results was right next to her. To be honest, in all her years working at the bureau, she had never seen such abstract data.
How strange! Let me take another look.
Strength 0, Defense 0, Speed 0, Stamina 0. These are basically the levels of an average slacker, and because it's in a transformed state, it seems even more useless.
What is the concept of 0?
Even an average person with decent strength could get a 1. This kid, setting aside any magical abilities, is completely useless!
However, the magic power value is only 4, just a little short of the maximum value of 5.
But in the eyes of the guards, the black light that pierced the sky yesterday must have had magic power of level 5 or even higher.
The world is full of wonders. She has seen many magical girls who are good at some subjects but not others, but she has never seen one who is so good at one subject.
Back in the day, during her intensive training at headquarters, she was known as a one-sided warrior, with all her stats tilted towards strength, defense, speed, endurance, and physique.
Her "magic" is physical enhancement. But this enhancement is passive, not active.
In other words, her physical body is always at its peak of strength, so she doesn't need to perform a long spell incantation like other magical girls.
力量5、防御5、速度5、耐力5、魔力0,这就是她的五维面板。
What is magic? You don't need it at all; just punch a monster when you encounter one.
The human body is amazing, isn't it?
Chu Sheng, on the other hand, was the complete opposite of her, representing the other extreme.
No matter how weak other magical girls' bodies are, they wouldn't be as weak as hers.
That's a real glass cannon.
The guard sighed inwardly. In battles between magical girls and magical beasts, magic power alone is far from enough. Many magical beasts possess both agility and high attack power; if Chu Sheng encountered such a beast, he would be instantly killed.
"Chief, I'm still struggling with the matter of joining the team." Chu Sheng saw her sigh and assumed she was regretting not joining the patrol team. "I came here today to ask about an emergency situation."
"Go on," the guard said, stretching his body. The movement caused his black bodysuit to tighten instantly, making his towering breasts seem about to burst through the fabric.
Chu Sheng stared intently at it, showing it the utmost respect.
Hmm, I suddenly have a craving for watermelon. I'll eat two!
"My question is, where do Warcraft cores come from?"
"Oh? Getting chased for debts?" The guard withdrew his hand and crossed his two plump and shapely thighs.
"Hmm." Chu Sheng pretended to be sad and lowered his head, his gaze then falling on her thighs. "The mascot said that if we don't pay the interest, we'll have to use something else to repay it."
"It's normal for newcomers to be pressured, don't put so much pressure on yourself. Everyone goes through this." The guard waved his hand dismissively. "Didn't you read the registration form carefully? The Administration has a support program for newly registered magical girls; they can exchange volunteer work for magical beast cores."
"That simple?" Chu Sheng was stunned.
"You newbies are so weak, how are you going to hunt monsters for cores?" the guard chuckled. "But once you advance to around Rank B, the bureau will stop providing them; you'll have to do it yourself."
"Only B-rank can hunt magical beasts on their own?" Chu Sheng was somewhat disappointed; B-rank was too far out of reach for her.
"No." The guard shook his head, a playful smile on his face. "What I mean is, once you reach Rank B, that mascot you mentioned won't dare to come and collect the debt anymore. Because by then, it won't be able to beat you."
"Um?"
Chu Sheng was genuinely shocked this time, his silver twin tails even bobbing slightly: "We can't beat it? But wasn't our power given to us by it?"
The guard pointed to the booklet Chu Sheng had received after registering: "You were too impatient. You didn't even read the manual carefully. The mascot's name is Palu. It's just an employee, responsible for signing contracts and collecting payments."
"Palu isn't as scary as you think. Its strength is at most B-rank, so it likes to intimidate newcomers like you who don't know anything."
"When you can punch it so hard it poops out, it'll be more obedient than anyone else."
Palu, I'll fuck your mother.
Chu Sheng roared silently in his heart. That white-haired beast almost tricked him into selling his genitals, taking advantage of his lack of information!
Suddenly, as if remembering something, she leaned forward and asked mysteriously, "If our power doesn't come from Palu, then where does it come from?"
The guard held up a finger to his full, red lips and gently shushed him.
"It's not time for you to know yet."
Chu Sheng nodded thoughtfully, then asked the question that concerned him most: "Director, if—and I mean if—a magical girl tore up the contract or had it stolen, what would be the consequences?"
The guard, who had been leisurely swinging his legs, finally reacted, sitting up abruptly, the heavy weight on his chest shaking violently a few times.
"You tore up the contract?"
