Chapter 51 The Clever Director
Chapter 51 The Clever Director
This plan was something Chen Lang had already come up with long ago.
Liu Yifei's talent for learning is beyond doubt.
You can get into BJ Film Academy at the age of 15.
Rather than risk raising suspicions of academic fraud later, it's better to accelerate this learning process.
They skip directly from elementary school to junior high, and then complete the junior and senior high school courses.
No one would doubt the academic prowess that has been cultivated since childhood.
After listening to Chen Lang's proposal, the principal was caught in a dilemma.
Chen Lang's plan is indeed the best option.
But it's not quite right for the school.
The difference between recommending and nurturing is enormous.
But he couldn't say that out loud.
The vice principal was a little anxious and glanced at the director with a shifty look in his eyes.
The director naturally understood the leader's thoughts, and he glanced at the two test papers.
Seeing the corrections on Liu Yifei's exam paper, a brilliant idea flashed into my mind.
"Chen Lang, classmate."
The director looked at Chen Lang with a kind smile.
"This plan sounds good."
"If you skip to junior high or even high school on your own, that's fine too."
"But it might not be appropriate for Liu Yifei to skip to junior high school as well."
The director glanced at Liu Yifei, pointed to the exam paper, and spoke earnestly.
"You see, although she is indeed very good at studying."
"But the difficulty of junior high school is different from that of elementary school, and she is still young, so she may not be able to keep up with the pace of junior high school."
Chen Lang frowned, then quickly relaxed.
While the director's words reflected the school's own considerations, they were not entirely without merit.
Seeing that Chen Lang's expression had softened, the vice principal immediately gave the director a wink.
The director understood and continued to persuade him.
"You are a sensible child, and our school is especially pleased that you are willing to help your older sister grow."
"How about this?"
"You and Liu Yifei will skip to sixth grade for a year to consolidate your knowledge."
"Next year, the school will recommend you to be admitted to the key junior high school, No. 71 Middle School, without taking the entrance exam."
Chen Lang glanced at the director's Mediterranean hairstyle.
Sure enough, a clever mind...
The vice principal silently gave the director a thumbs up and joined in the banter.
"Yes, yes, Chen Lang, think about it."
"It's not impossible for Liu Yifei to skip to junior high school now."
"But she's still young, and even if she tries, she can only achieve an average level."
"If she can consolidate her skills for another year, I believe that with her talent, she will definitely be a top student."
"This will be of great benefit to your future high school and university studies."
The two school leaders, working in tandem, clearly had their intentions written all over their faces.
Chen Lang was well aware of the school's intentions.
This is because he cares about Liu Yifei and wants to use her to keep himself tied down, so he can stay in elementary school for another year.
Self-taught geniuses are certainly impressive.
But what if this genius was nurtured by their Poyang Street Primary School?
That would mean something completely different.
Let the two of them stay at school for another year.
This means that the school can add an extra year of training experience to the resume.
He knew it, but he was indeed wavering.
He turned to look at Liu Yifei, whose face was calm and aloof.
The girl is no longer in a hurry. Anyway, it doesn't matter where they study, as long as they don't separate.
Chen Lang stopped worrying about it. For his wife's sake, one year would do.
Based on this calculation, students will take the college entrance exam at fourteen or fifteen years old.
Well, so we've returned to the original historical trajectory?
The thought flashed through his mind, but he nodded in agreement with the plan.
"Then we'll follow the principal's and director's arrangements."
The vice principal and the director exchanged a pleased glance.
"Good, that's more like it."
"However, skipping a grade is not a trivial matter and requires approval from the Education Bureau."
"Alright then, Chen Lang, you and Liu Yifei go home first."
"Discuss this matter with your parents."
"I will also hold a meeting to discuss this matter immediately."
"Come to school tomorrow and give me an answer."
"Yes, Principal."
The vice principal then turned to teacher Li Xue and gave her some instructions.
"Teacher Li, we don't need to assign homework to these two children until the official skipping-grade procedures are completed."
"Yes, Principal."
After giving his instructions, the vice principal prepared to leave.
Chen Lang called out to him.
"Principal, I have one more small request."
"Oh? You go ahead."
"Since I don't have to do homework, can I read my own books during class?"
The vice principal showed no impatience and nodded with a smile.
"sure."
"I'm curious, what kind of books do you read at your age?"
Chen Lang responded casually.
"I've recently been reading some books on advanced music composition theory, as well as Professor Zhang Hanxi's 'Advanced English'."
"I also occasionally read some world classics, such as War and Peace, or One Hundred Years of Solitude."
These book titles plunged the three adults present into silence once again.
Advanced English?
In this day and age, English is definitely a highly sophisticated and advanced subject.
Let alone primary school students, even many college graduates can't speak more than a few complete sentences in English.
English teachers are an even scarcer resource.
The entire Poyang Street Primary School has only two English teachers who are responsible for all the courses for more than a dozen classes from grades three to six.
This is already considered the configuration of a top-tier university.
In regular schools, classes don't officially start until the first year of junior high.
There's no way around it; talented English speakers all want to go abroad or work for foreign companies for high salaries.
Nobody wants to be a primary school teacher.
The vice principal took a deep breath, forcing himself to calm down.
He glanced at the head of the teaching department next to him.
"Go and call Teacher Wang over."
Soon, a female teacher in her thirties walked in.
She is one of only two English teachers at the school.
"Principal, you wanted to see me?"
"Teacher Wang, could you come here for a moment?"
The principal pointed at Chen Lang.
"Speak a few words with this student in English."
Teacher Wang paused for a moment, but still nodded.
She walked up to Chen Lang and gave him a professional smile.
"Hello, what's your name?"
Her pronunciation had a strong Wuhan accent.
"My name is Chen Lang, nice to meet you."
Chen Lang's answer was fluent and natural, with a pure American accent.
This stunned everyone present.
A look of shame appeared on Teacher Zhou's face.
She then tried asking a few more complex questions in English.
About the weather, about hobbies, about family.
Chen Lang answered fluently.
He would even proactively ask questions to guide the conversation.
Teacher Wang stopped, looked at the vice principal, and shook his head with a wry smile.
"Principal, I..."
"His English is much more standard than mine."
"The pronunciation is very accurate, the vocabulary is extensive, and there are no grammatical errors."
"I feel...my accent makes me seem a little...embarrassing in front of him."
She turned her head again and looked at Chen Lang, unable to resist asking.
"Excuse me, who did you learn English from?"
"Do you have a foreign language tutor at home?"
"no."
Chen Lang shook his head.
"I learned from a cassette tape called 'Travel Around America'."
He pointed to Liu Yifei next to him.
"My sister also has a large vocabulary. Although she can't communicate fluently yet, she knows most of the words."
