Chapter 107 Exhausted
Chapter 107 Exhausted
It was a bit chilly in the evening, and Chen Sui was wearing a short-sleeved shirt. Fortunately, Chen Che was sitting in front of her and blocked the wind, so she didn't feel so cold.
The school was a ten-minute walk from the bank, and they arrived in no time. Chen Sui went inside to fiddle with the ATM, while Chen Che idly played on his phone outside.
Many people were already asleep when they vaguely heard their phones ring. They picked them up and saw a bank notification that a money had been deposited into their account, and were instantly stunned.
"Wow, it's so late, and the team leader actually went to the bank to transfer the money. I'm so touched."
"You've worked so hard, Commander. I can't imagine what kind of person could marry someone as serious and responsible as you."
"Guild leader, you and your love interest should just die, I'll go steal batteries to support you /crying"
When Chen Sui came out of the ATM booth, she felt a weight lifted off her shoulders and felt much more relaxed, letting out a long yawn.
"Squad leader, are you relieved now?" Chen Che shook his head helplessly.
"Hehe," Chen Sui chuckled twice, "I feel relieved, but I'm feeling sleepy and hungry right now."
No wonder, I had a full day of classes today, and then this truck kept overturning for so long tonight. I still had to concentrate and give high-intensity commands. After that, I auctioned off equipment and chatted and sang. I was really exhausted.
Feeling both sleepy and hungry, let's tackle the hunger first, since we can't sleep on an empty stomach.
Chen Sui glanced at the time and thought for a moment. She decided not to make a big fuss about the late-night snack, since she had already eaten dinner and just a small bite would be enough.
This timing reminded her of the night they spent working on a PowerPoint presentation together in the classroom all night, so she said:
"Chen Che, thank you for your hard work. Let me treat you to a late-night snack. Let's go to the commercial street next to the school."
Chen Che didn't think much of it: "You want to eat that shop's sesame cakes again?"
"Huh?" Chen Che's eyes widened. "I haven't even said anything yet, how did you know?"
"Hmph," Chen Che smiled smugly and then explained, "From what I've observed, every time you go to the commercial street, you're either picking up a package or buying sesame cakes from that shop. You never go into any other stores."
Chen Sui was taken aback. Had her routine been figured out so easily? She said with an embarrassed look, "Okay, but I just felt that the only place on that street that sold sesame cakes was the most attractive to me. Maybe it's because my name has the character 'Sui' in it. I just feel that things made from rice and noodles are the most fragrant."
Chen Che nodded: "That's good. Class monitor, you're easy to take care of. You can just eat pancakes every day."
"Hey, those are two different things. Just because I like to eat doesn't mean I only eat sesame seed cakes..."
Back on the commercial street, it was quite late, and there weren't many people around. There was only one table outside the barbecue restaurant, and the rest of the people were gathered around the sesame seed cake stall. They were mostly students who had just finished their computer session at the internet cafe and were grabbing a bite to eat. Compared to the instant noodles, spicy strips, and duck legs at the internet cafe, the sesame seed cake was much more fragrant and affordable.
After the people in front of them left, it was their turn. Chen Sui glanced at Chen Che and said, "Let's just buy one and share it. It's not good to eat too much so late at night."
"Sure." Chen Che nodded. He didn't mind; he was just accompanying her.
The shopkeeper glanced at the couple and casually joked, "The young couple is quite sweet, even sharing a pancake. That's nice. When my wife and I first came here, we did the same thing, sharing a bowl of noodles."
Chen Sui blushed and quickly explained, "No, boss, it's too late, eating too much makes me feel unwell and indigestion."
"Alright." The boss nodded and got to work.
Chen Che glanced at Chen Sui, who had her hands folded behind her back and fidgeting with her fingers, and said, "Class monitor."
"Um?"
"Why did you focus your explanation on the pancake, instead of the fact that we're not a couple?"
"..."
"Hmm...you are my destined love, even if it's not a real destined love." Chen Sui finally came up with a reason after humming for a long time.
"What others think doesn't matter; what matters is that we have a clear conscience!"
This sentence sounds familiar. Perhaps at this moment, Chen Che only needs to say, "What if I have a guilty conscience?" to make Chen Sui freeze on the spot.
But there's no rush; I have time to wait for her to express her feelings herself.
Although they only ordered one sesame seed cake, the two of them added an egg, a pork tenderloin, and a sausage. The owner started bragging about his sesame seed cake skills, saying that he had bought three houses in the city with his sesame seed cakes.
"Wait a minute, boss, when I came to buy last month, didn't you say you bought two houses? You make so much money selling pancakes that you can buy a house in a month?" Chen Che asked seriously.
"Huh?" The boss was taken aback, not expecting anyone to remember what he had casually said. He smiled awkwardly and said, "I was just saying it offhand."
"Boss, you can eat whatever you want, but you can't say whatever you want," Chen Che said in a half-joking, half-teasing tone. "There was once a guy who had successfully faked his death and escaped, but because he uttered one of his favorite phrases, he was recognized by his former companions, which led to a series of troubles."
"You forget thousands of things every day, why not forget this one too?"
After eating half a sesame seed cake, the shivering feeling that usually accompanies the evening breeze was instantly dispelled by the warmth of the food. Chen Sui burped, and her eyes slowly began to glaze over.
After I was full, I got sleepy.
"So sleepy... I should go back now," Chen Sui murmured, her eyelids starting to droop.
Seeing that she was practically ready to sleep on the floor, Chen Che quickly poked her cheek: "Class monitor, go back to the dorm to sleep. I can get to the girls' dorm in just a few minutes on my electric scooter."
Although the girls' dormitory curfew had long passed, Chen Che's relationship with the dormitory supervisor meant it wasn't a big deal; if things got really bad, he could just go fishing for a few more fish.
"Oh," Chen Sui nodded, and as soon as she sat on the electric scooter, her face was pressed against Chen Che's back, and she lost consciousness.
Chen Che was driving the electric scooter ahead against the wind and didn't feel anything until he arrived at the girls' dormitory and felt a heavy weight behind him.
Chen Sui wrapped her arms around his waist to ensure her safety, while the girl's body heat was transmitted through her clothes.
"Squad leader, squad leader, wake up." Chen Che bounced him twice with his shoulder, but there was no response.
He turned around with difficulty and pinched her face, but there was no reaction.
Damn, what does that mean?
Class monitor, are we that close? You can just sleep like that without worry?
Chen Che muttered a few complaints in his mind, originally intending to ask the dormitory supervisor for help, but when he looked, all the doors and windows were locked tightly except for the lights which were still on.
What should we do? We can't exactly take her back to the boys' dormitory, can we?
There was no other way. Chen Che thought for a moment and turned back to the incubator. However, before starting the electric vehicle, he adjusted the angle first, otherwise it would be troublesome if someone fell off and caused a safety problem.
