Chapter 51: Turning the Tide—Injuring Shangguan Ce!

In the depths of the earth, Shangguan Ce moved as fluidly as a fish in water. His speed was astonishing, and within moments, he was only ten paces away from Xiao Yu.

But instead of surrendering, what awaited Shangguan Ce was an explosive barrage of spells.

“Fireball Spell!”

“Empty Radiance Sword!”

“Ten Thousand Swords as One—Heavenly Dragon!”

Xiao Yu unleashed a flurry of techniques with unrestrained fervor, his spiritual energy pouring out as though it cost nothing. Massive fireballs, roaring sword dragons, and countless dazzling flying swords rained down on Shangguan Ce in relentless succession.

Each attack rocked the subterranean space. Fireballs detonated, sword dragons roared, and flying swords pierced the air, striking Shangguan Ce’s protective barrier.

On the surface, the explosions caused the ground to tremble violently, trees to shatter, and flocks of startled birds to flee into the sky.

Yet, amidst the onslaught, Shangguan Ce’s protective barrier remained unscathed.

“Damn you, brat!” Shangguan Ce roared through gritted teeth.

He retrieved a healing elixir from his storage pouch, swallowing it in one gulp. Circulating his spiritual energy, he began to mend his injuries, though the process was agonizingly slow.

Meanwhile, deep underground, Xiao Yu took a shaky breath.

“Too close,” he muttered, wiping the sweat from his brow. Without a moment’s hesitation, he stored the Profound Flame Mirror and resumed his Earth Escape Technique, tunnelling rapidly away.

Just as Xiao Yu was gaining ground, the soil above him split apart with a deafening crack. A massive, triple-edged ice spike plunged downward, freezing everything in its path.

“Damn it!” Xiao Yu cursed, forced to divert his course.

But Shangguan Ce wasn’t finished.

More ice spikes rained down from above, each one spreading a frost that turned the soil into impenetrable permafrost. Within seconds, the subterranean terrain became as solid as steel, rendering the Earth Escape Technique useless.

Forced to surface, Xiao Yu emerged into the open air. He tightened his grip on the Profound Flame Mirror, knowing the fight was far from over.

Across the battlefield, Shangguan Ce stood tall, his eyes burning with murderous intent.

“Not running anymore?” Shangguan Ce sneered, his tone mockingly approving. “Good. At least you’re smart enough to know when to give up.”
