Chapter 407 407: Elemental Bears
Caleb, Voli, and the two looked at the falls in front of them in awe. It was different from what they imagined initially. The water was clear as a mirror in a way that it perfectly reflected the surroundings.
Ed could even see his face on the surface of the water. The clearness was comparable to the rear camera of the iPhone X.
"Nice! I can finally take a bath." Mic clenched his fist excitedly.
For a girl like her, it was uncomfortable to not be able to bathe. The accumulated sweat that dried and the dirt on her skin that wasn't actually visible was just unsettling. She wants to wash her body clean as soon as possible to get rid of them.
Caleb looked around and asked gently. "Aren't you afraid of the teachers outside watching your naked body? As far as I know, we are on the screen all the time. After all, they want to watch us. Judges are wilderness survival, wits, skills, and fighting ability..."
Hearing this, just as Mic was about to answer. It was Ed who opened his mouth. "Nah, that's not how it works." he shook his head. "The screen is managed by smart AI. It automatically shows our highlights. Either if it was fighting or doing some things that needed skills."
"Ohhh... Understood..." Caleb nodded. "It seems everything is considered. If that's the case. Then I'll fucking take a bath as well."
Ed snickered. "Damn it! Me too!"
"The damn question is... Who should take a bath first?"
"Of course, I..." Mic rolled her eyes. She's the one who proposed to her first and she couldn't really bear it any longer.
"There is no issue for me who will go first."
Caleb shrugged. After all, he could just fuse the dirt, sweat, and grease on his body to non-living things around him.
As Ed heard this, he nodded at Mic reluctantly. "Well, you can go first then. I'm a gentleman..."
'Gentleman my ass...' Mic clicked her tongue
What gentleman? Aren't you ashamed of yourself?
After all, Mic could see the unwillingness in Ed's eyes.
Just like that, Mic found a spot inside the falls. She let her body soak and let the water run through it.
As they ventured deeper into the forest, the distant rumble of a bear's roar echoed through the trees, sending a shiver down Mic's spine.
"Did you hear that?" Mic whispered, her eyes wide with alarm.
Caleb nodded solemnly. "Yeah, that was the sound of a bear fighting."
Mic and Ed exchanged puzzled glances. "How can you tell?" Ed asked, his brow furrowed in confusion.
Caleb chuckled softly, his tone laced with amusement. "It's all about understanding the sounds of nature," he explained. "When animals fight, they emit certain vocalizations and behaviors that are unique to their species."
He went on to describe the distinct sounds of a bear's roar, the deep growls, and grunts that indicated aggression or territorial disputes. "By listening closely and analyzing the pitch, frequency, and intensity of the sounds, you can decipher what's happening in the environment," he added.
Mic and Ed listened intently, absorbing Caleb's explanation with fascination. "So it's like decoding a secret language of the forest," Mic mused, her eyes alight with newfound understanding.
Caleb nodded, a smile playing on his lips. "Exactly. Nature has its own way of communicating, and it's up to us to tune in and interpret its messages."
"I think those are lightning bear and flame bear."
As they huddled together, Caleb nodded in agreement with Mic's assessment. "Spot on, Mic. Those roars were probably Flame Bear and Lightning Bear throwing down."
Ed jumped in, his eyes shining with excitement. "Yeah, totally! According to the flames and lightning bolts in the fighting area and based on my knowledge from Monster Encyclopedia, Flame Bear and Lightning Bear are like the VIPs of this joint. I even committed their pages to memory!"
Caleb shot Ed a thumbs-up. "Nice one, Ed. Your monster knowledge is gonna be our secret weapon."
Mic took it all in, her expression serious. "So if those two are going at it, chances are they're not too far off."
Caleb gave a determined nod. "Right on the money. We gotta keep our eyes peeled and be ready for anything."
'Bears? Aren't those the same creatures as me?' Voli came curious at this moment.
With the distant sounds of bear brawls still rumbling through the air, they knew they had to tread carefully.
"We gotta play it safe," Ed said, his voice low. "Flame Bear and Lightning Bear ain't no pushovers, so we gotta be on our A-game."
