Chapter 458 458: Nevada Dessert

Surrounded by high, electrified fencing, topped with barbed wire.

The compound consisted of multiple buildings, each with reinforced metal structures, indicating high security.

Thermal imaging revealed a central building with significantly more activity, suggesting it was the main hub.@@@@

There were two helipads, one on each end of the compound, hinting at readiness for quick arrivals or departures.

The satellite scans have located a position to the west of the main structure that appears to be the entrance to an underground bunker, possibly a hidden facility or storage area.

The compound was off the grid, with no registered power lines or water supply, implying self-sustained capabilities. Explore more at My Virtual Library Empire

Armed guards patrolled the perimeter, their routes precise and methodical, indicating professional training.

"High-tech communication towers buzzed with encrypted signals, giving away the sophisticated operational capabilities within the compound.

Caleb's eyes narrowed, peering at the sight. "So it would seem our friend has been a most busy man, constructing himself a fortress here in the desert." "We're giving you everything you need to close this up. This is critical; really critical work—not just for the UAG but for the safety of Earth," observed the President, watching the team as he did. And with that, a final nod of solidarity, the President exited, leaving the Earth team with the task of putting the final touches on the secrets of their compound.

As the Earth team readied up, Caleb stepped in, his face very serious. "We ain't taking any damn vehicles," he urged, serious in his tone. He shrugged off the jacket, and when it and its weight were gone, they could see the large bony wings on his back, extended with a grinding, bone-on-bone sound. Both eerie and beautiful, his wings glowed with a light from another world.

The team gathered around close to each other, drawing up satellite pictures and schematics on a portable screen. Mia pointed at the main entrance. "Heavily guarded—two checkpoints before you can even see the main building. We will need a distraction there."

"I'll take the front." Leo cracked his knuckles. "A little show of strength should get the rest of you an opening."

Zoey highlighted the security cameras by tapping on the screen. "Those are motion-sensitive, with night vision. We'll need to jam or remove it quietly to not draw attention."

Ethan nodded and added, "I can keep up with guard movements. My senses should pick up their patrols, give us a pattern to work from."

Sarah's eyes, now cold, met her gaze as she mentioned the underground access. "There's a tunnel here, likely used for deliveries or emergencies. It's less guarded but probably locked down tight."

"As he looked down at the buildings, Alex spoke. 'I am going to fly aerial. The rooftops are minimally guarded, and I shall have excellent visibility over everything.'"

Mia seized that moment to bring up the communications tower. "We bring that down, and it'll cut off their internal comms, create confusion for our advantage."

Caleb had taken all the ideas into account and gave the final statement: "Alright, Leo and I hit the front, Zoey. Ethan, you're on guard duty and patrol tracking. Sarah, you find your way into that tunnel. Alex, you're our eyes in the sky. Mia, disable their comms."

As he conceived it, there were obstacles: the entrance was fortified and had to be stormed; the security system dismantled so it would sound no alarms; the patrols were followed and avoided; their communication tower downed to sow discord among the defenders.

"We get in, grab the teen, and get out before these assholes know what hit 'em," Caleb said firmly. "No fuck-ups, no heroics. We do this clean and fast. Everybody clear?"

With a nod between them, the Earth Team moved out—each one to position.
