Chapter 6: A Night of Battling Monsters under the Dark Moon
The spider monster seemed uninterested in his screams. Its maw, filled with grotesque mouthparts, opened wide, spitting out a mass of white silk that enveloped him, quickly turning him into a large cocoon!
Like a captured insect, he would be dissolved by the venom within the cocoon and devoured by the swarm of spiders.
“Help! Where’s the military?”
“Where’s the Special Division? I don’t want to die!”
“Don’t take my child!”
On the ground, a mass of people ran frantically, but the spiders were fast, easily catching up to them!
The monsters’ horrifying mouthparts pierced into their victims, injecting venom that weakened their resistance. They soon became lethargic, slipping into an unending slumber.
The spiders carried them to their webs, wrapping them in silk until they formed huge, grotesque cocoons.
Dozens of white cocoons dangled from the web, some still squirming as their occupants struggled, though escape seemed impossible.
From afar, the scene resembled a nightmarish painting—a twisted creation of a macabre artist.
At that moment, Lu Yu deeply realized humanity’s frailty. People had become nothing more than prey, left at the monsters’ mercy.
The brutal reality of this world hit him hard. It wasn’t a game—it was deadly serious.
“I remember the city should have a defense system... Why hasn’t it activated despite all this destruction?”
The Fear Balloon wailed in panic, unable to grasp what had just happened.
“You silly thing...”
Lu Yu rolled his eyes, wondering how such a ridiculous creature could be rated a two-star monster. Was it secretly a mischievous dog in disguise?
Still, his Hellfire Whip had come from this very monster. What if the balloon unleashed its true power?
He untied the balloon’s string, letting it float freely again. It circled Lu Yu excitedly, much like a pet dog seeking attention.
Lu Yu’s mouth twitched, though he kept his expression calm. He addressed the balloon:
“Xiao Qi, you’re a two-star monster—act with some dignity!”
“Xiao Qi” was the name he’d given the balloon, based on the Chinese character for “seven,” which sounded like “Qi.”
The balloon’s grotesque face twisted in confusion but remained excited, trusting that its master was always right.
With a faint smile, Lu Yu retrieved a faceless mask from his room and put it on.
Staring at the emotionless mask in the mirror, he whispered:
“I don’t care what kind of evil god you are. This is humanity’s land—you’re going back to where you came from!”
Grasping the Fear Balloon’s string, Lu Yu strode forward, declaring:
“Xiao Qi, it’s time to hunt for monster materials!”
