Chapter Twenty-Six: The True Mystical Night Market!

What does it feel like to have a pillow handed to you just as you’re about to fall asleep?

Bliss.

Before Lu Yu could even fabricate an excuse, someone else had already done it for him—and with such deference, no less!

“Look at their wording—‘grace us with your presence!’ That’s how a subordinate speaks to a superior. Even the gatekeeper has such refinement and potential!”

Lu Yu was in a good mood, though his mask hid any expression. To the onlookers, the enigmatic powerhouse exuded a silent and oppressive aura.

In reality, Lu Yu wasn’t releasing any energy fluctuations. Beyond casting skills and manipulating some shadow energy, he had no idea how to project such an aura.

“You want me to release pressure? Bring me a manual first!”

The gatekeeper, meanwhile, trembled uncontrollably. His mind raced, wondering if he had misspoken and incurred the wrath of the enigmatic figure before him.

After all, this individual could very well be a Morningstar-level existence. If angered, his boss would be the first to act, possibly wiping out the gatekeeper’s family as an apology.

Beads of sweat rolled down the gatekeeper’s forehead. Time seemed to slow, each second stretching into eternity.

Then there was a black rock. Assuming it to be some precious stone, Lu Yu read the label: “Three-Headed Vulture’s Excrement,” touted for its alchemical properties.

“Enough to destroy my worldview,” Lu Yu thought, turning away quickly.

His shadow-cloaked presence drew attention, with many stepping aside to make way for him. This mix of deference and awe left Lu Yu feeling both amused and exasperated.

“It’s frustrating because I can’t engage with the other Awakened. My lack of knowledge about their world makes it easy to expose my naivety. But it’s satisfying to see these supposedly superior beings stepping aside for me—what a rush!”

The night market proved its worth, showcasing items and materials that truly belonged to a supernatural realm. Yet, Lu Yu remained focused on his goal. Soon, he stopped at a stall manned by a black-haired girl wearing a cat mask. She was engrossed in a book, showing no interest in selling her wares.

As Lu Yu approached, she briefly glanced at him before returning to her book, exuding the air of a librarian rather than a merchant.

The stall featured only a handful of items: ten or so notebooks, neatly labelled with titles like “Awakened Basics,” “108 Ways to Die in the Wild,” “Wilderness Survival 2.0,” and “Spiritual Cultivation Techniques for the Awakened.”

Beside the books was a white porcelain vial labelled: “Five Burials Corpse Poison.”

Despite the sensational titles, one caught Lu Yu’s attention: “Spiritual Cultivation Techniques for the Awakened.”

With abundant energy but no structured training or growth path, Lu Yu saw this book, along with “Awakened Basics,” as treasures. To other Awakened, they might be basic guides, but for Lu Yu, they were invaluable.

However, maintaining his facade as a mysterious powerhouse, he couldn’t appear too eager. Clearing his throat, he pointed at the porcelain vial and asked:

“Five Burials Corpse Poison?”
