Chapter 85: The Counselor@@@@

Ning Chu seemed distracted, his mind wandering even as he ate. Wen Yang, too, couldn’t fully focus on his lunch, preoccupied with a single thought.

If Ning Chu was really a girl...

How should he treat Ning Chu then?

Should he continue pretending not to know? Should he report it to the school and let them handle it? Or... should he consider turning his roommate into his girlfriend?

He quickly pushed that dangerous thought away.

Ning Chu’s controlling tendencies were already verging on obsessive. Making her his girlfriend? He could imagine needing permission just to leave the house...

Wen Yang looked up at Ning Chu, who was sitting across the table.

Her face was youthful yet exquisitely beautiful, with delicate features that made her look like a doll. Her big eyes were bright, framed by long, fluttering lashes, and her eyelids had a natural blush that added a touch of allure to her otherwise innocent appearance.

Her full, slightly pink lips were glossy and looked inviting—he’d already tasted them many times in his dreams.

The thought was dangerous, but... maybe not impossible?

“So, where to next?” Ning Chu didn’t wait for a reply, reaching over with his chopsticks to grab the last piece of pork from Wen Yang’s plate.

“Back to the library to study?”

“Sure.”

Wen Yang had grown used to sharing; in fact, most of the meat from Ning Chu’s plate had already ended up on his.

It was a mutually beneficial arrangement, allowing them both to sample more dishes.

After lunch, they headed back to the library.

The library was a bit busier on the weekend, with more students in the reading area than before. The atmosphere was quiet and studious, with the only sounds being the faint rustling of pages and the occasional footstep. It reminded Ning Chu of the intense study sessions leading up to college entrance exams.

No wonder so many people liked studying in the library.

Ning Chu took a good look at the girls in the reading area.

There was a girl with glasses, a white-haired loli, a cat-girl... About five or six girls in total, each with looks ranging from average to above average. In the world of this smutty novel, each one could at least qualify for a specific trope.

Even he himself could easily fit into the "trap" or "gender-bend" categories.

Ning Chu cautiously pulled Wen Yang away from those girls and found a corner table in the reading area.

“I’m going to grab some books.”

“Okay.”

Ning Chu knew that this kind of unreasonable demand from a counselor usually stemmed from pressure from the higher-ups, but it still annoyed him.

He casually typed a reply: “I’m not good at sports, and I have no talent for performing.”

Counselors typically used the threat of losing credits to enforce these demands, but in reality, it was usually just empty talk.

“If you don’t participate, you’ll lose credits.”

Just as expected!

In his previous life, Ning Chu had also been a college graduate and had been pressured into attending countless pointless seminars under the threat of losing credits. But after missing one by accident, he realized it was just talk.

Although his impression of Han Jingye had improved recently, all counselors were the same at their core.

Come to think of it, it’s been a while, and Han Jingye still hasn’t shown any signs of being a creep...

Apart from the forced participation in activities, Han Jingye had been fairly approachable and dedicated. He had a good reputation among the students, and Ning Chu’s opinion of him was steadily rising.

Maybe the plot had been so thoroughly derailed that the whole storyline involving Han Jingye had been neutralized by the butterfly effect?

After a few minutes of back-and-forth, Han Jingye finally gave up, typing: “If you really don’t want to participate, I’ll make an exception for you. Just don’t tell anyone else.”

Ning Chu smirked in satisfaction.

“How’s school been so far? Have you adjusted well?”

“Everything’s fine.”

“If you have any issues, feel free to talk to me. You need to take care of your health too.”

“Sure, will do.”

Wen Yang noticed that Ning Chu had been typing on his phone for a while and leaned over curiously. “Who are you chatting with?”

“The counselor.”

“What does he want?”

Ning Chu didn’t hesitate to throw Han Jingye under the bus. “He’s trying to get me to participate in some activities. Didn’t succeed though.”

“I thought it was mandatory?”

Ning Chu looked at him like he was a naive child. “Come on, he’s just a counselor. How much power do you think he has? Mandatory, my foot.”

Wen Yang glanced at the chat on Ning Chu’s phone and mumbled, “He seems pretty nice, offering to help if you need anything.”

“That’s what counselors are supposed to do.”

Despite saying that, Ning Chu’s opinion of Han Jingye rose another notch.
