The soldier handed Li Tianyu a satellite phone and said, "Captain, the Commander is on the line."
Li Tianyu took the phone and answered, "This is Li Tianyu."
"Have you arrived yet?" came a calm voice from the other end.
Li Tianyu glanced at the high fence powered by electricity and replied, "Almost. There is a high-voltage fence blocking the road. It will take some time to get there since we might need to take a detour."
There was a pause on the other end after he said that. Just as Li Tianyu thought the call had disconnected, the Commander spoke again, "Alright. Contact me after you have spoken with Captain Long."
Li Tianyu nodded and said, "Understood. I will try my best to convince him to help us."
"Good. I will await your good news."
"Yes, Sir."
After the call ended, Li Tianyu returned the satellite phone to the soldier. Noticing Li Tianyu's troubled expression, the soldier asked, "Captain, do you think we can complete this mission?"
Li Tianyu remained silent for a moment before replying, "I'm not sure. Captain Long is difficult to predict. He might agree to help us, or he might just turn us away."
The soldier clenched his fists and said, "I have heard Captain Long is a righteous and loyal man. If he knew our difficulties, he would definitely help us, right?"
Li Tianyu glanced at the soldier briefly but said nothing.
More than a year had passed since the world changed. In the past, he would have confidently said Long Yu would agree to help them. But now, it is hard to say what Long Yu will do.
Seeing no way to bypass the high-voltage fence, Li Tianyu returned to the military car with the soldier. Closing the door, he said to the driver, "Let's take a detour."
The soldier nodded, "Yes, sir."
About twenty minutes later, Shi Xuan spotted the military car parked at the base of the mountain.
Seeing no one inside, he looked around and noticed four people sleeping inside sleeping bags on the ground nearby. He then parked his bicycle next to the car and approached the group.
Before he could speak, Li Tianyu opened his eyes, aimed his gun at Shi Xuan, and said, "Stop right there."
Shi Xuan smiled calmly at him and said, "Captain Li, I'm here to fetch you."
Li Tianyu lowered his gun slightly and asked, "You are Shi Xuan?"
Tilting his head slightly, Shi Xuan chuckled, "Captain Li, it seems you are not fully awake yet. You don't even recognize me anymore?"
Hearing the teasing tone, Li Tianyu lowered his gun completely, rubbed his forehead, and tiredly said, "Sorry about that."
"It's fine." Shi Xuan glanced at the three soldiers, who were also waking up and added, "My captain has invited you to our place. Will you come with me?"
Li Tianyu's eyes lit up when he heard this, and hurriedly said, "Of course. Give us a moment to
pack."
"Sure." Shi Xuan waited as Li Tianyu and his team packed their sleeping bags.
Once they were ready, Shi Xuan got back on his bicycle and said, "Please follow me."
Leading the way, Shi Xuan guided the military car to the narrow mountain path. Five minutes later, they arrived at the high-voltage fence.
Shi Xuan pulled a small controller from his pocket, deactivated the gate's electricity, and opened it remotely. After they passed through, he closed the gate and reactivated the
electricity.
Fifteen minutes later, they reached the air raid shelter's back entrance. Dismounting his bicycle, Shi Xuan entered the password and opened the heavy metal door.
As the door lifted, he signaled for the military car to drive inside. Once it passed, he closed and locked the door.
