Seeing their temporary victory, Yao Yuechuan leaned against the wall and wiped the sweat from his chin with the back of his hand. However, his brief moment of rest was interrupted by the sound of explosions coming from the other side of the wall.

Moments later, his watch lit up with an incoming call notification. Seeing Wu Yehao's name on the screen, Yao Yuechuan accepted the call.

"Where are you?" he asked.

"I'm looking at a tall wall," Wu Yehao replied.

Letting out a sigh of relief, Yao Yuechuan said, "We are inside. We will create an opening for you and your team to enter."

"Got it. We will be there in two minutes," Wu Yehao replied.

Ending the call, Yao Yuechuan turned to the earth element ability users. "Make an opening wide enough for armored vehicles to pass through."

Although they were exhausted, the two earth element ability users nodded and pushed themselves to their feet, preparing to open the wall.

One and a half minutes later, the sky darkened rapidly. As the air filled with static electricity, thunderclouds rolled in. A few seconds later, bolts of lightning began crashing down from the

sky.

Seeing this scene, Yao Yuechuan remained calm. "Get ready!" he ordered.

The earth element ability users pressed their palms against the wall, focusing their remaining energy.

As more lightning bolts illuminated the sky, Yao Yuechuan gave the command, "Open the wall!"

With the additional help from Wu Yehao's team, Yao Yuechuan and his team finally got a moment to rest.

While his team distributed food and water to the others, Wu Yehao turned to Yao Yuechuan. "What happened? How come you are surrounded by these deformed monsters?" he asked.

Yao Yuechuan took a big gulp of water and shook his head.

"I don't know. When we entered Luocheng City, there wasn't a single deformed monster around. But as we got closer to the city center, countless deformed monsters suddenly appeared out of nowhere and started attacking us."

Hearing this, Wu Yehao paused in thought before saying, "That's strange. Normally, these deformed monsters move randomly and don't group together. For them to form a horde is highly unusual."

After his comment, both of them fell silent, deep in thought. As they pondered the peculiar behavior of the deformed monsters, their watches suddenly chimed with notifications.

They exchanged a glance before simultaneously opening the new message from

headquarters.

[The deformed monsters are more active and stronger during the daytime. All personnel currently outside are advised to exercise extreme caution and avoid combat during the daytime, as their roars can summon nearby deformed monsters.]

After reading the announcement, Yao Yuechuan and Wu Yehao looked at each other as realization dawned on them.

Closing the message, Yao Yuechuan said, "I thought someone was deliberately bringing those deformed monsters to kill me and my team. Turns out the deformed monsters have evolved due to increased radiation levels."

Wu Yehao considered this for a moment before asking, "Why are you here?"
