Chapter 95 Living Outside Isn't Easy (1)
Unlike wizards who learn various types of magic, masu could only use the innate powers they were born with when they first awakened.
Like the shadow leopard and killer rabbit that Turan had encountered in the past.
There were various hypotheses about the reason for this.
Some said it was because masu's intellectual abilities and imagination were too poor, or that it was the same principle as bloodlines specialized in physical combat having difficulty extending magic outside their bodies.
Therefore, Turan consistently passed on magic-using techniques and sensations to Bize.
If masu's inability to use magic was an issue of intellectual ability, he believed Bize could certainly overcome this.
Even being able to use simple telekinesis or ignition magic would be incredibly convenient.
But despite quite some time passing with little progress, he had half given up until suddenly witnessing this terrifying wind magic display.
'How?'
Just as he was startled, Turan noticed something occurring within himself and focused his consciousness.
Through the soul string connecting him to Bize, he could feel something being transmitted from his inner self to Bize.
It was closer to pure 'information' rather than something consumable like magic power or mental energy.
'Could it be that my Storm bloodline ability is being transferred?'
As if confirming this, when Bize stopped the vortex, the rippling sensation in the soul string disappeared.
Turan analyzed his bird's newly acquired ability while petting Bize who had calmed down and landed.
"You suddenly became able to do it after getting stronger?"
[Yes!]
"What about what I taught you before?"
[Can't do that! Can't make fire or move things!]
"Then can you perhaps try hiding invisibly?"
After trying for a moment, Bize tilted her head as if unable to do it.
This meant she could only borrow specifically the Storm bloodline ability among Turan's powers, and even then only the wind-related power that had been developed so far.
'Was this why they said only Meisa and I were a perfect match?'
Could it be that Bize had latent talent for wind, or wind and lightning powers, and thus only responded to nobles with compatible bloodlines?
If so, it wasn't surprising at all that someone "perfectly matching" her hadn't appeared until now.
Logically, an Arabion bloodline noble would have no reason to go buy a masu from the Enril Desert.
After some more experimentation, it became clear that Bize's wind magic was closer to the typical innate magic unique to masu.
Solif raised his hand to block the sunlight and asked:
"Stayed up all night and I'm dead tired... so what's the plan now, boss?"
Boss - it was a title he had never heard until now.
It felt even more bizarre since the one saying it was a great noble about forty years his senior.
Without showing such feelings, Turan pointed to Solif's left arm.
"First we need to fix that."
"Ah."
Solif looked down at his left arm severed from the elbow as if he had forgotten about it.
While the recovery potion glass bottle named 'Spring of Life' couldn't reattach severed arms, nobles with the Healer bloodline could create even missing arms.
Though he could use telekinesis magic without major inconvenience in daily life, having an arm was still better than not having one.
"If we go to a place I know, we can get treatment anonymously. Don't worry about the treatment cost, we earned plenty."
"Where is it?"
"Arabion."
At first he had considered asking Rida of Labitas for treatment, but there was the problem of not knowing where she usually resided.
Surely she wouldn't always stay by the hot springs, and if she was at the Labitas main house, they would have to reveal their identity and draw attention to call her out.
Considering that the Siraf Wetlands near the South Sea were likely within House Baraha's search range, rather than exposing their movements that way, it would be better to quietly recruit a noble with the Healer bloodline through House Berk's connections in the distant Dakein Plains.
"Ah, the one in the northwest? No wonder you could fly - you're an Arabion noble? And you stole the stealth magic by killing a Zahar noble?"
"No, that's an innate ability... I'm mixed-blood, if I have to say."
Solif's face hardened at the words mixed-blood.
Though usually just meaning born between two houses, hadn't Turan already shown abilities of both houses?
"Don't tell me it's bloodline combination?"
"That's right."
Solif couldn't continue speaking for a moment before quietly asking if it was three.
Guessing he meant the number of bloodline abilities, Turan nodded and answered.
"For now."
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"With four bloodlines, they seem to unlock one by one as magic power gets stronger. I'm on the third one now. Still can't use the lightning side."
