The Bigshot's Superstar Wife

Chapter 90: A Way Out

Chapter 90: A Way Out

The Princess walked through the dense forest, each step dragging her deeper into the tangled web of trees, vines, and shadows.

The lush underbrush seemed endless, the towering trees blocking any hint of the outside world.

Every direction looked the same, lush green foliage stretching as far as the eye could see. It was as if the forest itself was alive, purposefully pulling her further in, preventing her escape.

The journey had already lasted for an entire day, and as the sun dipped below the horizon, a chill settled in the air.

The princess, though accustomed to hardship, couldn’t help but feel the weight of exhaustion creeping in.

Her limbs ached from the constant movement, her mind clouded with worry. How long would she be lost in this forest?

How much longer before her attackers found her? The thought of being trapped without any way to communicate with the outside world gnawed at her, and her resolve wavered.

There was no clear direction anymore. They had moved for hours, but every step seemed to lead them deeper into the heart of the wilderness.

Despite all their efforts, there was no sign of a way out. The forest had swallowed them whole, and time seemed to stretch endlessly in the eerie quiet of the night.

By the time the moon hung high in the sky, casting a soft glow through the leaves above, the princess and her small group had no choice but to rest.

They found a small clearing, sheltered by thick trees and dense undergrowth, offering them a brief reprieve.

The princess sat on a large stone, pulling her cloak tighter around her, the weariness catching up to her as she watched the moonlight dance on the leaves above.

One of the guards murmured softly, "Princess, we must keep moving. The longer we stay in one place, the more likely we’ll be found."

She nodded, but before she could respond, she heard something in the distance. The subtle hum of engines, faint but distinct against the background of the night’s silence.

Her pulse quickened, and she stood up, scanning the surrounding trees. The faint outline of lights appeared, moving swiftly through the forest.

"They’re coming," she said, her voice calm but laced with urgency. "Prepare yourselves."

"Major General Demerin," the soldier spoke into the device.

"We have a situation. A woman claims to be from the Jericho family and requests transportation to Asenus. We need your decision on how to proceed."

There was a long pause before the familiar voice of Lawrence came through, calm but filled with authority. "Is she in possession of identification?"

The soldier turned to the princess, who nodded and handed over a set of documents.

They were carefully forged, showing the princess’s fake identity as a member of the Jericho family, a convenient lie to protect her true identity.

The soldier passed the documents to his commander, who reviewed them quickly before turning back to the communication device.

"We’ve confirmed her identity. She’s cleared for entry into our warship. Prepare the ship for immediate departure."

A brief sigh of relief escaped the princess as the soldier lowered the device and turned back to her. "You’re in luck. Major General Lawrence has authorized your transport. Come with us."

The princess, feeling the weight of her fake identity press down on her shoulders, followed the soldiers to their warship.

Her heart was racing, unsure of what this journey would mean. She had to stay hidden, for if her true identity were revealed now, everything would fall apart.

Inside the warship, she was given a small, private room to rest.

The soldiers seemed to understand her need for quiet, and she quickly settled down, taking the time to gather her thoughts.

As the ship lifted off from the dense forest and began its journey through space, the princess’s mind raced with questions.

What would Lawrence think of her? Would he see through the deception? Would he recognize her for who she truly was?

But despite the uncertainty, she was certain of one thing, the war was on the horizon. And she had to be prepared.

The stone core Lawrence’s team was searching for, the one that had to do with the Demerin family, was a key piece of a much larger puzzle.

And she would need all the answers she could find to survive what was coming.
