Chapter 267 Lu Chengwen Explodes
Lu Chengwen looked around, his expression dark.
A large, fat man stood on the second-floor balcony, laughing heartily. “Don’t get angry! Please, our esteemed guest, come upstairs for a detailed talk!”
With the “escort” of over twenty guns, the three of them made their way to the second floor.
The fat man turned to Guan Laosan and said, “Go take care of your tasks.”
Inside a private room on the second floor, the fat man sat down with a grin, extending a cigar. “Please.”
Lu Chengwen shook his head. “Are you the boss?”
“Haha, everyone calls me Buddha. I’m known for being kind-hearted and helping people solve their problems. Lu, your business back in China is massive; do you also have operations in Nanya?”
Lu Chengwen said, “What I want to discuss with you concerns business in China.”
“Hahaha! Go ahead, speak!”
Lu Chengwen gave the strategist a look. The strategist took out an envelope, pulled out a photograph, and handed it to Buddha.
Buddha glanced at it. “This person, he looks a lot like you.”
Lu Chengwen's face remained impassive. “My brother, Lu Chengwu.”
Buddha burst into laughter. “Haha, what does Lu plan to do?”
“You’re the ones who will kidnap him. I don’t care how you do it; I won’t be involved in any part of it! It has nothing to do with me! Once he’s captured, keep a close eye on him, then follow the usual procedure and contact me for money.”
Lu Chengwen sighed. “You know, I love my brother dearly! He means everything to me! When you first ask for ten billion, I’ll quickly transfer it to you! Because I truly love him!”
Buddha smiled. “I understand, he’s your own brother, after all.”
“But after you take the money and don’t release him, you’ll ask for another ten billion!” Lu Chengwen slammed the table. “For my brother, I’d sacrifice everything and send the money again!”
Buddha chuckled. “You really care for your brother.”
“Then, the third time, you’ll demand twenty billion!”
Lu Chengwen smiled. “Although I love my brother, my family and I start to realize that this is a bottomless pit, so...”
Buddha nodded. “You’ve already done everything you can for your brother.”
Lu Chengwen sighed. “Honestly, I’m not a bad person. I love my brother more than anything in this world, except the family fortune!”
“I get it, I get it. Even Li Shimin loved his brothers, but for the sake of an eternal empire, what could he do? Hahaha!”
Lu Chengwen looked satisfied and turned to the strategist. “This is someone who truly gets things done.”
Buddha laughed heartily. Just then, someone walked in and whispered in his ear.
Buddha squinted at Lu Chengwen, then laughed again. “Bring her in.”
Moments later, two people brought in Zhang Shen’er.
The strategist and Jin Tuo Wang were visibly shocked, and Lu Chengwen rolled his eyes.
“Buddha, what is this about?”
Buddha said, “She found this place on her own and tried to sneak in but was caught by my men. Lu, are you really here for business?”
Lu Chengwen said, “What else? She’s here with me for fun.”
Lu Chengwen stepped forward and looked at Zhang Shen’er. “I told you to stay at the hotel, but you wouldn’t listen. Did you sneak a look at my phone? Serves you right.”
Zhang Shen’er looked aggrieved, feeling embarrassed and unsure of how to deal with the current situation.
It was clear that Lu Chengwen had been negotiating with the other side at a critical moment, and her sudden appearance had made them suspicious.
Buddha said, “Lu, we can do business, but I don’t want to take any risks.”
He tossed a gun to Lu Chengwen. “Kill her and show me your sincerity. If she dies, we continue with our business.”
Lu Chengwen glanced at the gun. “Buddha, I’m talking to you out of respect. My hands remain clean of blood.”
“That’s fine, then. Your two subordinates seem capable—let them do it.”
Buddha couldn’t move, with Golden Boulder King and Strategist holding knives to his abdomen.
Lu Chengwen, furious, said, "We were negotiating a deal, and just because of a woman, you flipped? Are you being overly cautious or what!?"
Lu Chengwen slapped Buddha's chubby face. "I run a multi-billion-dollar conglomerate. Do you think I came here undercover to dismantle your little operation? Your annual revenue doesn’t even match one of my subsidiaries! I’m an elephant, and to me, you're just a fat rat scavenging in a filthy ditch!"
He slapped Buddha's head again. "Are you out of your mind?!"
Buddha, panting with blood at the corner of his mouth, responded, "You might be a big boss, but I, Buddha, am in this risky business. Do you know how many people back home hate me? They’d strip my skin and break my bones if they could! If I’m not cautious, I’d need more than eight lives to survive!"
"Then at least recognize who you’re dealing with!"
Lu Chengwen yelled, "I! Lu Chengwen! Came to you for business. If I wanted you dead, I’d send ten or twenty skilled fighters. Four top-tier experts would tear your head off and shove it up your backside!"
Lu Chengwen winced, holding his shoulder, which had been shot. "Damn, you even shot me. What rotten luck!"
Buddha, pinned down, said reluctantly, "Lu, I overreacted. Shall we continue our deal?"
"Do your mother! I’ll do you in!"
Buddha grinned. "Lu, think of the bigger picture. You could kill me, sure, and today you'd be on top. But your brother’s matter will become a real problem. I have many men here; if even one escapes..."
Lu Chengwen looked at the Strategist, who nodded.
Lu Chengwen pointed at Buddha. "Do business, and keep it straight. No more tricks!"
Buddha said, "You’re set to inherit billions! If you can’t kill a woman, how can I trust you?"
Lu Chengwen retorted, "Damn it, I’m not done with her yet! Look at her face, her looks! And those legs! If I kill her, do I sleep with you tonight?!"
Buddha rolled his eyes. "You... damn it..."
Zhang Shen'er ran over, only for Lu Chengwen to backhand her hard. "Damn it! You are a troublemaker! I told you to stay put at the hotel, didn’t I?"
Zhang Shen'er, on the verge of tears, said, "I missed you!"
"Then why sneak in? Are you an informant for the police?"
Lu Chengwen pointed a gun at her head. "Are you!?"
"I'm not! If you don’t believe me, just kill me!"
Lu Chengwen grabbed her hair and kissed her fiercely.
Buddha averted his gaze in disinterest.
"This guy, is he always this deranged?"
The Strategist chuckled, "Lu’s into this sort of thing. He’s never short on women. This one’s just his current favorite."
Lu Chengwen released Zhang Shen'er, then turned, his injured shoulder leaning close to Buddha, pressing a gun against Buddha’s temple, eyes blazing. "I’ve done business for years and seen every damn devil and monster. Today, I stumbled in this stinking ditch..."
"Lu, if you kill me, there’ll be no deal!"
"I refuse to believe that only you can do business!"
Lu Chengwen looked ready to pull the trigger. Buddha interjected, "Lu! There are many capable of making deals, but I assure you, no one else in the world is as professional as I am!"
Seeing Lu Chengwen’s hesitation, Buddha seized the moment to plead, "You don’t lack the manpower, but spending twenty billion on someone like me means you want the task to be flawless, without any trace linking back to you, right?"
Lu Chengwen stared at him for a long moment before tossing the gun aside. He pointed. "You shot me once; that’s one billion off your fee!"
Buddha exclaimed, "Boss, we've all been shot before; it’s not worth that much!"
Lu Chengwen lunged, grabbing him by the collar. "You shot me! Me! Damn it, keep talking and I'll take off five billion! Take it or leave it!"
"Alright, alright! It was a misunderstanding. We’ll call it a discount for Lu!"
Lu Chengwen signaled to the Strategist and Golden Boulder King to let him go.
Buddha stood up as his men gathered around, bewildered.
Buddha laughed, resting a hand on Lu Chengwen’s shoulder. "To show my apologies, let me offer you a little gift. Follow me."
