Ardent observed the Mana Crystal in front of him. Despite not using any of his Grade 4 Spells, he can still easily decimate the entire population of goblin guards without even trying.
"Then again, a 4th Circle Mage is still a 4th Circle Mage despite not using a spell that powerful." Ardent mused to himself.
He looked at the goblin guards, which are coming towards him, or rushing towards him, again.
"They really don't learn." then again, it is the same thing he had seen. The goblins of both variants did not feel fear, and would attack anything that come close.
With their population can easily be replenished by the dungeon, the species itself would not go instinct.
"You would have thought that some will grow a brain or something and not go on this suicide attempt." Ardent could still grumble though, as he swiped his hands.
Shadow Spike emerged from the shadow of the goblin guards, impaling their chest and killing them without hitting the Mana Crystal.
Since the goblin guards did not pose much difficulties, the Mage decided to challenge himself by killing them as methodically with some restrictions. The first one would be no using Grade 4 Spells. Its overkill and would cause too much destruction.
The second one would be to kill them as quickly as possible, while not causing too much destruction in the caverns. It work as training to fight inside a residential area like a village or a town. Better be ready for the future.
Those two are the main restrictions. Other restrictions were made on the spot, for different group. Like, killing them with only a single attribute Magic... That's probably the only change he can make, but he is trying to think of more.
"Another group, huh." Ardent exclaimed, his attention now on the new group of goblin guards.
"Time to use Fire Magic." Fire Magic is the first attribute that he showed to the villagers. With its destructiveness and Fire being an attribute most contribute to killing and devastation, it was one of his commonly used attribute when dealing with threats.
And now, he planned on restricting himself further, by only using Grade 1 Spells. Though, it did not change much as lower Grade Spells improved with each Circle.
Ardent poured Mana from his Mana Core, directing it to the Fire Magic Circle. The way a spell is used is by pouring Mana into the Magic Circle, then letting the spell take form. At least for 1st Circle Mage.@@@@
'It's like getting xp for killing monsters.' a childish part of him thought. He will not refuse a method that help him improve his strength so easily though.
The gain he get will take some time for it to help him reach the next Circle though.
'When can a new floor popped out. It will be really helpful.' Ardent complained in his head as he destroyed another group, before reaching the end of the floor.
Where there was supposed to be the next entrance of the 3rd floor, or it would be in the future, now, only a single cave, with the outside surrounded by Spawning Circles are there.
'Time to get serious.' after destroying the entire group of goblin guards that spawned now, Ardent focused on the ambient Mana, absorbing and observing it. Slowly nourishing his Mana and Core, slowly pushing himself to the next Circle.

Ardent sighed. It's a repetitive process now. However, it is the fastest way for him to become a 5th Circle Mage. Even if it gets boring after sometime.
"It's a necessity." he said to himself, the sentence having become a Mantra so he can continue repeating it without breaking the routine.
As he finished for the day, Ardent smiled, as he could feel his gain, and slowly, reaching his target.
"Two more weeks or so, then I can become a 5th Circle Mage."

"Hmmpp, as expected of a bunch of scum. Get ready. I will send in the mercenary group, Blue Boulder. They will get the job done, and kill those Red Stone Bandit should they decide to renegade our deal!"
