Chapter 85 The Keeper of the Infant Spirit

Chapter 85 The Keeper of the Infant Spirit

As Qin Er was about to speak, he suddenly sensed a cold glint approaching him. He quickly turned his head and met Qin Lie's icy gaze, instantly realizing the situation.

"It's not from me, Zhouzhou. It's a gift from your dad!" he hastily explained.

"Dad?" Zhouzhou was surprised as she turned to look at Qin Lie. In the next moment, however, her hands were empty.

Qin Lie was holding the golden pixiu, his face expressionless as he gave her a glance. "You have poor taste. Take it back, I don't want to give it to you anymore."

"No!" Zhouzhou reacted quickly and wailed, hugging his leg. She climbed up and sat on his foot like a little raccoon, gently swaying back and forth. "Dad is the best, I like Dad the most!"

Despite knowing that she was doing it on purpose, Qin Lie couldn't help but soften his expression. He kicked her chubby butt gently, "Get down."

"No!" Zhouzhou refused, instead she climbed up and snuggled into his arms, her hands around his neck. She gave him a kiss on the cheek and rubbed her head against his neck as she coaxed, "Dad, please give it to me. Dad is the best."

The little girl was plump and her voice was sweet and soft, making him feel his heart melting.

After enjoying enough of his daughter's coaxing, Qin Lie finally relented, "Next time you have poor taste, you won't get another chance."

"I won't, I won't," Zhouzhou shook her head vigorously, showing her delight as she hugged the golden pixiu. She gave him another kiss on the cheek, raised her arm and made a heart shape with her chubby little hand. "Dad, love you!"

Qin Lie looked at her and couldn't help but smile.

Grandma Qin glanced at him and lightly snorted, unable to help commenting, "Immature. Okay, come eat now."

Qin Lie didn't mind and sat down with Zhouzhou on his lap. Seeing her holding the golden pixiu, he knew that he had chosen the right gift. Looking at her joyful expression, his face softened involuntarily.

Grandma Qin smiled too. Since her granddaughter arrived, her son had changed a lot.

Not bad, not bad. She knew that no one would dislike Zhouzhou.

As they spoke, the others also came out. Xiao Lan grabbed a slice of bread and ate a bite, saying, "Mom, I won't eat dinner. I have to go to film my part. I'll leave now."

"So urgent?" Grandma Qin quickly made a sandwich for her to take and asked, "When will you be back?"

"It's getting late, and the cast is having dinner tonight."

They work in an industry with a lot of socializing.@@@@

It was her job, and so Grandma Qin didn't say much, but Zhouzhou, who overheard their conversation, looked over curiously and exclaimed, "Wait, Third Elder Aunt!"

"What's wrong?" Xiao Lan turned around, surprised, and looked at Zhouzhou.

After he left, Zhouzhou obediently sat on a chair. As Xiao Lan came out with her newly done make-up, Zhouzhou's eyes lit up as she took a glimpse of her aunt's refreshed look.

Just then, a woman walked up to Xiao Lan, intimately hooking her arm and with a sharp pointed chin. Zhouzhou's nose twitched and her frowning eyebrows gradually relaxed as she had caught her.

"Lanlan, would you like to dine with me tonight?" Jin Jiajia grinned and suggested.

Xiao Lan glanced at her, drew her arm out, frowned and asked, "Who are you?"

Jin Jiajia froze, feeling embarrassed and said, "I'm Jin Jiajia. Don't you remember me? We've collaborated on several movies before."

She mentioned several movie and TV show names where Xiao Lan was always the leading actress and she was just a supporting actress, or at best, a secondary female role.

Thinking of this, she glanced at Xiao Lan with a look of jealousy flashing in her eyes.

Xiao Lan carefully recalled, searched through her memory to find who this person was. After observing her for a while, she seemed to have difficulty recognizing her and looked at Jin Jiajia with some confusion, asking, "You seem to look different now."

She thought for a moment and said seriously, "You've become ugly."

Upon hearing this, Jin Jiajia could barely contain her smile. Her freshly done makeup had not fully relaxed yet, making her grin seem stiffer. "Haha," she laughed dryly, "Lanlan, you're so funny. We'll be in the same cast from now on and there will be many scenes for us to act together. I hope you can teach me more!"

She winked playfully at Xiao Lan, but the latter suddenly backed away, furrowing her brows and giving a glance towards Zhouzhou. Seeing the little girl with her face propped up, gazing at her, Xiao Lan relaxed only when the girl met her eyes and gave a soft, innocent smile.

Turning back to Jin Jiajia, Xiao Lan spoke seriously. "Your acting is too poor. It doesn't look cute at all and is too forced, making it hard on the eyes. Even though I tried to teach you, you didn't seem to understand. I suggest you start from the basics."

Hearing this, Jin Jiajia couldn't keep up her smile any longer. Was she being ridiculed for her bad acting?

Jin Jiajia was angered, but Xiao Lan couldn't be bothered to continue their conversation and simply walked away.

Once Xiao Lan left, Jin Jiajia's expression completely darkened, and she couldn't help but feel gloomy.

In a jiffy, she recalled something and her lips curved upward slowly.

What use was good looks and good acting? Very soon, by tomorrow, her pretty face and exquisite facial structure that was praised to the skies by her fans would be smashed flat and she would be unrecognizable. Let's see if Xiao Lan would still dare to say such things then.

Thinking this, she opened her palm, and the black scythe hiding in it flew towards Xiao Lan. Just as it was about to enter Xiao Lan's body, Jin Jiajia's lips curled into a smile.

However, unbeknownst to her, this entire scene was witnessed by Zhouzhou nearby.

She narrowed her eyes, raised her hand and flicked her wrist gently. The black scythe that had just entered Xiao Lan's body flew out suddenly and hit Jin Jiajia directly.

"Ahh!"
