Chapter 635 - 635: Brutal
Chapter 635 - 635: Brutal
Memories of the time they fought against Ugor flashed through Zach's mind. When he broke out of the Basilisk's petrification to see Yanael's mutilated and tortured body was something he would never forget. That was why he knew that the current situation wasn't anything like it.
But that moment when he broke out of the petrification's endless darkness to see Yanael in such a state had scarred his heart.
However, that wasn't the only reason why his mind blanked and stopped his thoughts from running.
The way Yanael limply flew backward after a heavy-handed attack reminded him of Nora.
One of the Hydra's Children had whacked her aside when she tried to help Zach fight him, and in doing so, the Child had revealed the mortal fragility of the human body.
Yanael wasn't a human. She wasn't as fragile as Nora had been.
That strike was far from enough to kill her. But she wasn't moving. Her eyes were closed. And blood was dripping from her nose and mouth.
The energy within Zach sizzled like lightning. Like water splashed onto boiling oil, his insides bubbled over.
Surge activated without him even realizing. His body overflowed with bottomless strength.
The muscles and cells he had conditioned over the last weeks embraced the flood of world essence energy like deserts.
Zach's skin reddened as his blood was pushed through his veins by the acceleration of his muscles. His veins bulged and looked like they were on the verge of exploding.
The amount of world essence energy within Zach's body at any given time was by no means bottomless. If anything, he possessed a paltry amount of it.
But the nature of world essence energy was such that quantity did not matter as much as the quality and state of activation did. A world was a world, no matter what the size. World essence energy was the energy of a world, regardless if it was a great river or a small stream.
Zach's world essence energy seemed to expand endlessly and fill every corner of his body. It seeped into his toes. His fists. His eyes.
He shot forward, kicking dirt in the opposite direction. His fists turned into blurs of solid momentum.
His Eyes of Truth pierced the unknown man's secrets and exposed openings in his stance and weaknesses of his body.
There wasn't a lot. The man only had one opening that Zach could see. The weaknesses of his body were something that not even the most perfect human could escape. They were the structural weaknesses of the human skeleton.
But this man had started to overcome them. His wrists, ankles, knees, shoulders, spine, neck, elbows, and hips were all sturdier than anything Zach had seen before. He had started transcending the human body.
Fortunately, he wasn't the only one.
In his regular state, Zach was already strong enough to bend steel with his hands. Ordinary weapons didn't pierce his skin. Lifting weights had lost purpose.
Still, with world essence energy taking over his body, he reached another level.
Seemingly out of curiosity, the man met Zach's blazing punch with the same fist as before. He wanted to see the increase in power for himself by making a direct comparison.
The last time, Zach's momentum fizzled out, and he had to resort to grabbing the man's wrist with all he had to make something of his strength.
This time, a shockwave blasted out, creating a globe of rapidly expanding air. The pressure reaching the other side of their bodies also cratered the ground beneath their feet.
Sparks flew from Zach's world essence energy colliding with the unknown man's ominous divine energy. It was on a level Zach had never felt before.
It vastly surpassed Bartuk's divine energy, and he was an Apostle. Not even Vera's was a match for the slumbering volcano Zach sensed hiding within the physical body that was no longer enough to defeat Zach.
"You…" Zach started saying, conflicted. His rage and trauma had only propelled him forward. It wasn't enough to carry him through the man's domineering presence.
"Don't stop now!" The man shouted almost in frustration. With a simple gesture, his Twin Blood Essence Sabers disappeared, and he punched Zach in the face.
Zach's head kicked back, and his neck cracked worryingly. But before he even raised it again, he had already shot back a fist that the man didn't bother blocking. Zach's knuckles crashed into the man's cheek with a dull thud, turning his head slightly to the side.
The man responded with a hook that whipped Zach's head to the side. If his spine had allowed it, his head would have spun like strapped to a wheel.
Distant throbs of pain reached Zach through the ocean of world essence energy. He would be in for a pain of hurt once Surge ended.
But until then, there was only one thing he could do: try and land as many hits on the stranger's annoying face.
His fist rammed into the man's chin, raising his head.
Naturally, the man returned the gesture.
Neither side bothered defending. They went all out, attacking the other's faces like they couldn't stand the way the other looked.
It didn't take long for Zach's handsome face to turn into a bloody, swollen, pulpy mess.
Surprisingly enough, the strange man's face was also marred with bruises and fist imprints. Zach's fists were heavy enough to injure him, even if not grievously. However, they were not heavy enough to erase the blissful smile on the man's face.
The man reveled in the brutal dogfight, where neither skill nor talent mattered. The only things that mattered were the hardness of their skills, the weight of their fists, and their stubbornness.
It was a fight boiled down to the very core. It was an exchange of attacks that would only end when one of them could no longer move their arms.
It was a display of brutality that made the spectators unable to look away. At the same time, they were unable to stop it.
Zach had already proved his strength to everyone present. He was stronger than Vera.
If he turned into a punching bag at the hands of the dark-haired man, would the others even serve as warm-up?
They could only watch and hope that it would end soon.
