The guard hit by Ghislain's kick collapsed immediately. The faces of the surrounding guards turned grim.

"What the hell is this crazy bastard?!"

There were quite a few guards in front of the mansion. They all rushed at Ghislain and began beating him.

Thud! Thud! Thud!

Even as Ghislain lay on the ground, being trampled, he shouted out.

"This filthy world! Some people live in these big mansions, playing and feasting every day, while others don't even have bread to eat! It's unfair!"

"What the hell is this lunatic babbling about? Are you insane?"

Thud! Thud! Thud!

The kicks became fiercer, but even as he was being beaten, Ghislain didn't stop ranting.

"Hey! This world is garbage! Noble bastards should all be stabbed to death with spears! We need a revolution! Freedom and equality! We are all brothers!"

At the word "revolution," the guards suddenly stopped their assault, startled.

"Is... is this guy crazy? What did he just say?"

"Is he a member of the revolutionary group?"

"Looks like a drunkard... but still, he's spouting dangerous ideas, isn't he?"

The revolutionary group was an organization aiming to overthrow the world. Claude had once been falsely accused because of them. Since then, simply uttering the word "revolution" anywhere would lead to immediate arrest and severe punishment. The guards grabbed the fallen Ghislain and tied him up.

"Lock this bastard up. Report to the higher-ups that he mentioned the revolutionary group." If he was just drunk, they could beat him senseless and let him go. As a vagrant, they could even throw him in jail if they wanted. It was entirely up to the guards.

But with the word "revolution" coming out of his mouth, letting him go wasn't an option. He might actually be connected to the revolutionary group, and even if he wasn't, someone with such thoughts could cause trouble later.

Thus, Ghislain was dragged to an underground prison, bound tightly with ropes.

Inside the prison, there were already many inmates. Most were petty criminals or people who had been wrongly imprisoned.

"Hmm, the cells are full."

A guard frowned, glancing around. The prison was packed. Not only had many people been detained recently, but there were also about 50 dwarves who had been captured at once.

The dwarves, who had been lounging around, were startled when they saw Ghislain being brought in.

A single thought crossed their minds.

"That human wouldn't be caught here just by accident.'

The dwarves were sure of it, based on years of experience. If the lord had been captured, it meant he had allowed himself to be caught. Galbarik and the dwarves smirked. With the lord's exceptional skills, escaping from here wouldn't be difficult.

Coincidentally, Ghislain was placed in a cell opposite Galbarik's. The cell was already occupied by other prisoners. Dangerous individuals like revolutionaries were usually kept separate, but the overcrowded prison forced them to put Ghislain anywhere they could.

The prison warden instructed the guards.

"I'll personally report about that odd fellow later. The dwarves will be moved to a special prison tomorrow, so keep a close eye on them."

The special prison was used to detain knights or individuals of noble status. Dwarves were valuable slaves, and Martin wouldn't simply let them be. He would try to coax or threaten them. Initially, he planned to win them over, so he was transferring them to a better facility. This was why Ghislain acted immediately. Though it wasn't clear yet, expensive dwarves wouldn't be kept in a regular prison for long.

Once the guards left, Galbarik clung to the bars, whispering just loud enough for Ghislain to hear.

"As expected of you, Lord! You came to rescue us!"

"No, I got caught too."

Ghislain's blunt response made Galbarik avert his eyes.

"This guy's sulking.'

Galbarik inwardly clicked his tongue. In any case, their failure was indeed their fault. But he also felt wronged.

The mission hadn't seemed that difficult, but bad luck had landed them in this mess. On their way to the prison, the dwarves overheard the guards' conversations and learned why they had been caught.

Galbarik urgently pleaded his case, his usual tone shifting due to his frustration.

"Lord! Listen to me. Our plan was perfect! But it just so happened that a lazy guard was napping there. Of all days! At that exact time! This was fate messing with us!"

Ghislain smirked at Galbarik's desperate excuses. His earnest explanations were somewhat endearing.

Unexpected problems could always arise. No matter how well you gathered information or planned, absurd incidents could still occur. Whether it was due to mistakes, bad luck, or the enemy's abilities.

Yet even when problems cropped up, Ghislain had always found a solution. This time wouldn't be any different.

"Well, thinking back, I don't think I've ever handled things quietly."

No matter how hard he tried to resolve matters discreetly, they always turned chaotic. Most of

his actions defied common sense or were carried out recklessly.

If trouble was inevitable, he'd have to handle it loudly this time too.

"Rest up until night. Once I move, head straight for the tunnel. Knights will be waiting there.

Got it?"

"Won't we need to fight?"

Dwarves were quite capable in combat. If they were determined, they could easily take down a

few guards. But Ghislain had no intention of involving them in the fight.

"No need. If you get hurt or caught again, it'll be more of a headache. Just move

immediately."

"Alright, we'll do as you say."

Truthfully, with Ghislain's skills, escaping alone wouldn't be an issue. The problem was the hostages. Martin's private soldiers, guards, and city militia combined numbered over a thousand. Even for Ghislain, rescuing the hostages without a hitch wouldn't be easy.

Considering all that, it was better for the dwarves to stay out of the way.

Just as they decided to wait until nightfall, a disturbance broke out elsewhere.

"Hey, newbie. You should greet us first if you're new here. What's so fascinating about the dwarves? They're just gonna be moved somewhere else soon, so why bother chatting with

them?"

Ghislain turned around. A hairy brute lay on the floor, scratching his belly. He looked disgusting, half-dressed and barely covering himself.

The brute whimpered, but the man glared at him with murderous eyes.

"My daughter probably begged you like this too."

"S-spare me..."

"Apologize to her, and go to hell."

The man climbed onto the brute's body. The brute tried to squirm away but couldn't move.

Shunk!

The man thrust the rod into the brute's neck without hesitation.

"Gurgh!"

The brute gurgled, blood bubbling up as he screamed. The man didn't stop, repeatedly

stabbing him.

Shunk! Shunk! Shunk!

Fueled by years of resentment, the man's hand never wavered. Soon, the brute's neck was

shredded into a bloody mess.

"Grr... gaaaagh..."

Before long, the brute let out his final breath, his eyes wide open.

The man, staring at his enemy's lifeless body, eventually stood up and bowed deeply to

Ghislain.

"Thank you... I don't know how to repay this kindness..."

Before he could finish, screams erupted from the other cells, mainly from those watching the

scene.

"Someone's been killed!"

The commotion quickly attracted the guards.

"What's going on here?!"

"How did someone die?"

"Wasn't this just a brawl?"

The guards, who had been lounging around outside the cells, didn't care much about

prisoners fighting. Sometimes, prisoners even killed each other, which made their jobs easier -fewer prisoners to deal with.

But a weapon had been used this time, which meant trouble for them. It meant they had failed

to detect a weapon being smuggled in.

"Drag those bastards out! Everyone, get down!"

At the guard's shout, the prisoners obediently flattened themselves against the walls,

knowing defiance would only lead to brutal beatings.

Ignoring the chaos, Ghislain rolled up his sleeves and asked the middle-aged man.

"Do you have a family?"

"No... I've been alone since my daughter died."

"Alright, if you've got nowhere to go, head to Fenris in the North. You won't have trouble

surviving there, and you won't find scum like that."

"Fenris...? But I'm a prisoner. How could..."

Ghislain grinned and replied.

"I'll get you out. A lot of people are going to die here today, so it'll be hard for them to come

after you."

Clang!

The cell door swung open as guards stormed in, their faces filled with rage.

Galbarik muttered, watching the scene unfold.

"Weren't we supposed to wait until night?"

It was clear that waiting until night was no longer an option.

One of the guards swung a club at Ghislain, shouting.

"Get down, you bastard!"

Thunk.

"?"

The club stopped in Ghislain's hand. Shaking his head, Ghislain muttered.

"I swear, nothing ever goes quietly."

Plans had a way of going awry. As long as the end result was as intended, it didn't matter how

noisy the process got.

Boom!

The guard was sent flying out of the cell. No one, guard or prisoner, saw how Ghislain had

moved.

"W-what the..."

Everyone froze, stunned, as Ghislain smirked and looked at the guards.

"Let's just start now."

It was time to rescue the hostages and make their escape.
