Chapter 28: Su Zhenguo

At that moment, there was a knock on the door. Xie Han quickly composed herself and opened the door.

“Young Master!” Seeing Qin Jun, Xie Han's face showed a mix of joy and panic.

Joy because Qin Jun was here.

Panic because Qin Jun was here—she feared he would tell her she was no longer needed as his bodyguard.

Qin Jun walked into Xie Han's room and casually sat on her bed. Though they were master and servant, they were of the same age and had known each other for many years.

They were very familiar with each other.

“Young Master, is there something you need?” Xie Han quickly poured Qin Jun a glass of water, asking nervously, afraid of hearing bad news.

Qin Jun looked at Xie Han, noticing her slightly red eyes, and guessed what was on her mind. His eyes flickered, and he deliberately showed a cold expression.

He said indifferently, “I'm here to inform you that you won't be needing to guard me for the next few days.”

Xie Han's face turned pale and felt a deep pain as the thing she feared most was happening. She struggled to remain calm, her body trembling slightly.

“Is that so? What will my new assignment be? Am I to join the military district or guard someone else?” Xie Han fought to hold back her tears and asked, “Am I to move out of here?”

“If that's the case, I'll move out tomorrow...”

The young girl's heart was almost shattered!

Qin Jun frowned and asked, “Move out to where?”

Xie Han lowered her head, her voice tinged with sobs, “Since I'm no longer your bodyguard, I don't have the right to live here...”

“Who said you aren't my bodyguard anymore?”

Xie Han immediately looked up. “Didn’t you just say I wouldn’t need to guard you for the next few days...?”

Su Zhenguo was still bewildered, not knowing what had happened. He asked the officer escorting them, who shook his head, saying he only knew the order came from the highest office in the Southeast Military District.

This nearly gave Su Zhenguo a heart attack! The highest office in the Southeast Military District!?

One of the five major military districts in the country, what did he do to deserve their attention? Was it a case of mistaken identity?

Wisely, Su Zhenguo didn’t ask further and, in a daze, arrived in Dongdu, where they were taken to undergo examinations.

Su Zhenguo’s wife, Yuan Lu, was a high school teacher, and their younger daughter, Su Yue, was eighteen and just started her senior year of high school.

The Su family waited in their room, ignored by everyone. Su Zhenguo wanted to ask but saw that everyone around was either a high-ranking officer or a scientist in a lab coat, so he didn’t have the courage to speak up.

Yuan Lu looked worried and whispered, “Old Su, did they mistake us for someone else? How could the highest office know about us?”

Su Zhenguo comforted his wife, “It's fine. We're already here; they won't send us back, right? We should just make the best of it.”

Su Yue was very beautiful, with clear, bright eyes, curved brows, a pure and lovely face, and a graceful figure, like a green apple just starting to ripen.

But now, she was still in shock as she had just witnessed a hellish scene when the military escorted them, passing by her school.

Thugs had taken over the school, committing acts of violence. She even saw her classmates being assaulted by those thugs!

Without the military's help, given her looks, her fate would have been even worse!

Yuan Lu, heartbroken, hugged her daughter and worriedly said, “I wonder how Xiao Ya is doing.” Since that one call, her phone has been off.”

Hearing this, Su Zhenguo sighed heavily. He had two daughters, Su Ya and Su Yue, both outstanding and his pride. Both were not only beautiful but also excelled academically.

Especially Su Ya, who got into Jiangjing University, making him very proud.

He comforted his wife and daughter, “Xiao Ya has always been resourceful. She should be fine..."
